|Further information:||The plasmid was constructed by ligating the BamHI-PstI fragment of pBR325, containing the chloramphenicol resistance gene and part of the tetracycline and ampicillin resistance gene, to the BamHI-PstI fragment of pBR327, containing the origin of replication and the completing parts of the ampicillin and tetracycline resistance genes.
The plasmid carries, from position 4431 to 4907, a 477 bp sequence which duplicates, in the opposite orientation, a section located at the end of the tetracycline resistance gene (position 835 to 1311).
This plasmid is a pBR322 derivative in which the bom site as well as the region coding for the rop protein have been deleted. The plasmid cannot be mobilized.
The nucleotide sequence of pBR328 corresponds with the EMBL Nucleotide Sequence Database accession number L08858.1.
